Frequently Asked Questions

KANSAS CCH TRAINING

QUESTION:  How much will the training class cost?

Answer:  The tuition for our class is $150 and includes a $20 gift certificate to Bass Pro Shops and 2 passport sized photos.

QUESTION:  Where is the Equalizer class held?

Answer:  Our class is held at Bass Pro Shops in Olathe, Kansas in the Conservation Room. Details HERE.

QUESTION:  What is the shooting requirement?

Answer:  The shooting test consists of 25 rounds.  The shooter must get 18 hits on any scoring area of the target from the following distances:

3 yards – one handed shooting – 5  rounds

7 yards – free style – 10 rounds

10 yards – free style – 10 rounds

The target is an FBI TQ-15 and is quite generous.  There is no time pressure for this shooting test and students may take as much time as they need to get scoring hits.

QUESTION:  Do you have to use the gun you are gong to carry to shoot the CCH license test?

Answer:  No. There is no record of what gun you bring or use during the shooting portion of the course.  We can have students take the test with a single action 22 revolver and carry a 45 ACP semi-automatic.  The law is silent which makes the citizen’s good judgment the deciding factor.

QUESTION:  Do I have to bring my own handgun, or can I rent one for the shooting test?

Answer:  Most students bring their own handgun, but we offer handgun rental by prior arrangement. The cost is $20 for use of the handgun including ammunition.

QUESTION:  Is there a written test?

Answer:  Yes.  The written test consists of 25 questions about the material that we have covered in the class or on the range. The questions are multiple choice or true/false.

QUESTION:  Will the approved course make me ready to carry a concealed handgun in public?

Answer:  No.  If completed successfully, the approved course will provide a Certificate of Completion for you to photocopy and submit with your Concealed Carry Handgun License Application.

In order to be ready to carry a concealed handgun in public, more training is required to improve speed and accuracy with the firearm, as well as the proper mindset to defend your life and the lives of your loved ones.

Consider our Enhanced Shooting Skills training for further preparation.
